Annualized return since inception1, 2
The CMLS Mortgage Fund (the "Fund") was created with the investment objective of providing a recurring distribution to unit holders by investing in a diverse portfolio of private mortgages secured by tangible real estate located in Canada. The Fund is structured to allow investors to purchase or redeem units on a monthly basis, subject to available funds3.
Strategy & Investment Approach
The Fund's investment strategy is concentrated on investing in higher yielding cash flowing commercial mortgages and non-prime single-family residential mortgages secured against real estate located in primary and secondary markets across Canada. Our view is that we can earn attractive risk-adjusted returns by concentrating on asset classes within urban centers that are underserved by the larger financial institutions.
Specifically, our objectives are:
- Diversify exposure across geography with a concentration on primary or secondary markets;
- Diversify exposure by asset class;
- Invest primarily in shorter-term mortgages.
